In a decisive move, the Boston Bruins had until Tuesday to determine the future of their 19-year-old rookie sensation. They had to decide whether to keep him with the NHL club beyond nine games, thus initiating the first year of his entry-level contract, or send him back to the Ontario Hockey League's Guelph Storm.

However, Bruins' coach Jim Montgomery wasted no time in making the call after Tuesday's practice. He confidently declared, "He's sticking around. He just belongs."

While there's no guarantee that Poitras will remain with Boston throughout the entire season, the Bruins are thoroughly impressed with his early-season performance, ensuring his continued presence on the roster.

Selected as a second-round draft pick by Boston in 2022, Poitras has made an immediate impact, amassing three goals and five points during his nine-game tenure with the Bruins. His addition has proven invaluable, especially considering the team's season commencement without the retired veterans Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Poitras has consistently slotted into a second-line role but remains versatile enough to adapt to various line combinations as needed.

Hailing from the Toronto area, Poitras has not only demonstrated his skills but also won over the trust of his teammates. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy highlighted a significant aspect where Poitras shines, saying, "I think that's been the biggest thing is his confidence with the puck. We've faced many teams employing a man-on-man style. You saw him numerous times confidently handle the puck in the offensive zone, making smart decisions, whether carrying it, protecting it, or waiting for the perfect play. That's super impressive."

The Boston Bruins have maintained their winning ways, despite the notable departures of Bergeron, Krejci, and Taylor Hall from last season's lineup. They currently lead the Atlantic Division with an 8-0-1 record, securing the second spot in the league overall. Poitras' addition to the roster has undoubtedly played a significant role in the team's early-season success.
